Privacy policy

This policy applies to the Legislative Signal website and application. It does not replace the privacy terms of a public video platform, hearing host, identity provider, payment provider, or other service you independently use.

If you use Legislative Signal for an employer or another organization, that organization may control the workspace and its customer content. Direct workspace questions to its administrator first.

Account and team data

We process names, email addresses, authentication identifiers, organization membership, roles, invitations, and account-security events.

Customer content

We process hearing titles and source URLs, schedules, clients, watchlists, aliases, expected participant names, transcript passages, speaker assignments, watchlist mentions, generated briefs, citations, exports, and related settings.

Audio and source data

For attended monitoring, audio from the browser tab you explicitly choose is streamed to the transcription provider. For scheduled unattended monitoring, an isolated cloud job retrieves the supported public source you supplied. Source audio is temporarily processed and stored to create the live transcript and run a higher-accuracy post-hearing transcript pass. Temporary audio is normally deleted when that processing ends and is automatically deleted within 48 hours by the cleanup backstop. Audio is not included in the customer archive. The public source platform, cloud infrastructure provider, and transcription provider may also process the stream under their own terms and configured retention practices.

Usage, device, and support data

We process monitored minutes, schedules, source-provider and job status, session and error events, browser and device information, IP address and security logs, report-generation events, email delivery information, demo requests, and support communications.

Billing data

Stripe processes payment-card and bank details. Legislative Signal receives billing contact details and references such as customer, subscription, price, invoice, status, renewal, and payment-failure information; it does not receive full card numbers.

• Provide authentication, team access, monitoring, transcripts, mentions, briefs, archives, exports, support, and billing.
• Secure the service, prevent abuse, enforce entitlements, diagnose failures, and maintain audit evidence.
• Communicate about accounts, requested demos, service changes, security, invoices, and support.
• Improve reliability, accuracy, usability, and capacity using service telemetry and feedback.
• Comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect customers, users, Legislative Signal, and the public.

Depending on the context, processing is based on performing a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing a business service, consent where required, or legal obligations.

We disclose information to the service providers listed in the Subprocessors section below for hosting, identity, database, transcription, AI generation, email, and payments. Providers may process information only for contracted services and their own legally required purposes.

Workspace administrators and authorized team members can access organization content according to their role. We may disclose information in a business transaction, with your direction, to comply with lawful process, or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Customer records are retained while an account is active and according to the plan, organization settings, contractual commitments, backup cycles, dispute needs, and legal obligations. Temporary unattended-monitoring audio follows the shorter period described above. Trial work may be deleted after the trial or a reasonable retrieval period. Billing, fraud-prevention, security, and legal records can be retained longer when necessary.

We use managed identity, HTTPS, encryption at rest, private tenant-isolated processing, server-side secrets, organization-scoped database policies, signed provider webhooks, access controls, and monitoring appropriate to the current service. No service can guarantee absolute security; contact us promptly if you believe an account or workspace has been compromised.

You can update account and organization information through the service where available. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request. We may verify identity and authority before acting.

Operational and billing messages are required for the service. You may opt out of promotional messages using the message controls. Contact us through the contact form for privacy requests and identify the relevant organization.

Providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards. Legislative Signal is a business service and is not directed to children under 13.

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when an update materially changes how personal information is handled.

Exact processing locations and transfer mechanisms depend on provider configuration and the customer’s location. Provider terms and security materials are available from each provider.

Changes to this list

We may add or replace providers as the service evolves. We will update this section before a new provider begins materially different processing and provide additional notice when required by an applicable agreement or law.
